Families for Inclusion was Founded by Julia Bourgeois and Co-Founded by Deveni Polito.

“We were inspired by our children, Brooks & Gia, to make a community that accepts them and allows them to participate in daily activities like everyone else.”

Families for Inclusion, a nonprofit in Southwest Louisiana, is on a mission to enhance inclusivity and accessibility for individuals with special needs. Their vision extends beyond conventional boundaries, aiming to create a society where everyone, regardless of abilities, can actively engage in all aspects of life.


With unwavering commitment, the organization advocates for the rights of individuals with special needs, utilizing advocacy, education, and community engagement as key tools. Ongoing projects, such as the inclusive playgrounds at the Children's Museum and Lock Park, exemplify their dedication to creating positive change. The upcoming Luke’s Legacy Grant in spring 2024 further underscores their commitment to supporting individuals with special needs.

Families for Inclusion invites active participation in their mission, urging individuals to contribute to conversations and initiatives that bring accessibility to the forefront. Their goal is to foster inherent inclusivity in play spaces, businesses, and restaurants. Through collective efforts, the organization envisions a future where diversity is celebrated, ensuring that no one is left behind. Families for Inclusion stands as a driving force for positive change, transforming Southwest Louisiana into a more accessible and inclusive community that values the unique contributions of every individual.

Currently, Families for Inclusion falls under Children’s Miracle Network through the CHRISTUS Ochsner SWLA Foundation.
